Aespire celebrates first year anniversary of helping foundations, philanthropies, nonprofits and higher education, inspire advocates, engage donors, and advance their causes.

aespire-turns-oneAespire® is observing its first year anniversary on September 1, 2013. Aespire was formed as a new design practice by the marketing agency Sooy+Co., to specialize in serving nonprofits.

Aespire serves the nonprofit community with positioning, design, marketing communication and web site design that helps the nonprofit sector — social, economic development, community and other tax-exempt entities; grant-making organizations (such as philanthropies and foundations); and higher education (colleges, universities and community colleges) — communicate with clarity through mission-driven design. Additional areas of expertise include Salesforce.com donor relationship and grant management for nonprofits, and content marketing to enhance strategic outreach.

In addition to its core expertise, Aespire has helps meaningful causes succeed through its relationships with strategic partners in public relations, mobile app development, and marketing automation.

These services support the mission-driven design approach that guides nonprofit and cause communications. In its first year, Aespire’s expertise has helped leading nonprofits to attract and inform new followers, inspire advocates, engage donors and connect their mission with their audiences.

These organizations include social services and economic development nonprofits such as Second Harvest Food Bank of North Central Ohio, Applewood Centers, NorTech, JumpStart, and the Great Lakes Innovation and Development Enterprise (GLIDE); foundations and grant making organizations such as The Cleveland Foundation, Nord Family Foundation, JD Breast Cancer Foundation, Samuel Szabo Foundation, and United Way of Greater Lorain County; and education institutions such as Lake Ridge Academy, Lorain County Community College, and Western Nebraska Community College.

Aespire has created a robust platform for educational thought leadership for each audience it serves:

  • In addition to its own publishing initiatives, articles by Aespire’s principal Brian Sooy have appeared in Advancing Philanthropy (the publication of the Association of Fundraising Professionals), and Designer (the publication of UCDA, the University and College Designers Association). Aespire’s articles are also published on Philanthropy Front and Center, the blog from The Foundation Center, Cleveland.

Aespire provides thought leadership and knowledge resources to the nonprofit community through several channels:

  • Brian Sooy is the author of the forthcoming book: Mission-Drive Design – A Cause Communications Manifesto (January 2014)
  • Seminars: Aespire is collaborating with the State of Ohio Small Business Development Center at Lorain County Community College. Aespire will present a nonprofit communications seminar on September 19, 2013, entitled Raise your Voice: 12 Resolutions for Better Nonprofit Communications.
  • Brian Sooy presents two breakout sessions at the national UCDA conference (University and College Designers Association) in Louisville, Kentucky, in October 2013.
